Global warming `could wipe out half of all species`

Zee News `: " Half of the world's plants and animals are at risk of extinction because of rising global temperature caused by climate change, a study has revealed. According to lead researcher Peter Mayhew of the University of York, 'our results provide the first clear evidence that global climate may explain substantial variation in the fossil record in a simple and consistent manner. 'If our results hold for current warming – the magnitude of which is comparable with the long-term fluctuations in earth climate -- they suggest that extinctions will increase.' "
