Primates under threat of extinction

iol"Almost half of the world's primates are in danger of becoming extinct because of uncontrolled hunting and the destruction of their forest habitats. This is according to a comprehensive review of the world's 634 primates species released this week, which concludes that at least 300 are vanishing.

The report by Conservation International, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Margot Marsh Biodiversity Foundation presents a 'chilling' indictment on the fate of mankind's closest relatives."
